We see what we want to see and believe what we want to believe. When someone tells us about something, that new knowledge enters our minds and, if we agree, we have difficulty ignoring that new knowledge. In this painting, our minds see a winged figure with a moon behind it. However, the figure is also a part of a masked face. Which is the true and original image? The mask or the winged figure?
